It’s looking like the WPT Canadian Spring Championship is going to be another win for Canadian poker fans. And with it all kicking off next week let’s take a quick look at their fantastic achievements so far.

Last Time Around In Montreal We Saw Them….

Destroy all previous held poker event records in Canada attracting next to 1200 runners and making it the third largest WPT event in history, that’s only 8 entries off second place of Borgata, Atlantic City…Wow nice going guys.

Show Me The MONEY!

How about that prize pool huh? Last time around they generated, a staggering CAN$3,387,930 and the winner a 25-year-old Jonathan Roy from Boucheville, Quebec took home $779,710, the WPT Champions Cup and a $25,500 seat in the very exclusive 2013 WPT World Championship at Bellagio.

It was poker celebs galore everywhere you looked last time….Antonio Esfandiari check, Phil Laak check, Daniel Negreanu check, Gavin Smith check, David Williams check, Phil Kessel check and Guy Carbonneau check, oh and if that wasn’t enough on the rail was the Olympic swimming legend Michael Phelps double check.

What Next?

So come on what’s this year going to bring you ask? Well word is that with the “World Poker Tour is returning to Montreal again to Canada’s largest poker venue the Playground Poker Club for what promises to be another massive tournament as players compete for fortune and glory from May 3rd – 9th.
